I really love the style of your work! Once the likeness gets there, you will have some really terrific caricatures. - that will come with practice.

Nice line work ebeth.couple things i see.i see a huge forehead, yours is quite small. He has a really droopy puppy dog face and huge eye brows.I think you need to be a bit more loose with him. Hope that kinda makes sense? But you are on your way.

Well, you know how he always looks as if he is slumped over-this is my feeble attempt. Oh-well I knew it looked crazy after I did it !

Great Shelley!
Nice to see you using a different medium. Pastels? You're right, I wonder if he has back problems?

shelley, I love the color you used. Not a bad looking shot if I say so myself. ebeth - you just get better with each caricature. I think once you sharpen your skills and gain more confidence, I think you'll really be a force to reckon with. Great Job!!!! Ricky

Shelly, beautiful work. I'm dying to start on colors (you can kinda tell by the random colors I put in my drawings) but I'm stumped with shading and such when I start to put colors on the page. But you did a great job with it!!! Thanks for the input everyone. Did ya know..... I didn't "see" the big forehead until you pointed it out? But, you're right!!! It's pretty high. Also, there's something really wrong with the eyes. I can't figure out what it is. I drew his eyes at least 50 times last night!!! Anywone care to take a gander? I was proud of his mouth and nose (I just finished the nose section in Mauri's class and started on the mouth last night). Anyway, thanks again. Ricky.... you are such an encouragment. All of your replies are always so helpful and give me that extra boost that just makes me want to draw more. I appreciate it. ToonMom, I'm thinking likeness comes largely from the eyes. "Sigh" It's hard to capture the soul. Tips? Thanks

ebeth -
For what it's worth, I kinda like the minimal color that you've been using. It's totally cool if you want to get better with color, and then color the entire piece, but I really like for example in this one, where the blue shirt really accentuates the eyes. It's very cool. And also, without looking, I think I remember the two women on another thread (one had the really cool hair) mostly for their minimal coloring; streaks of hair, eyes, etc. I think that once you get to the point where likeness is no longer a problem, you might want to consider coloring the same way you do now. Call it a style. I like it.
Shelley -
I really like the ears. They remind me of the Preparation H guy on Conan O' Brien (anyone know who I'm talking about?). Speaking of Conan, the hair on your drawing reminds me of him. I like it.
