My try on the movie legend, not sure if i really got him though i thought of sharing with you guys here. anyway its suposed to be a distortion contest and i tryed to full stretch his face. What you guys think? Sweet! The bow tie clinches it! Dang! why didn't I think of that!!! -Dang!

I was not happy with my colour version at all. I decided to try a different reference photo and am happier with this likeness

Chris - great job! I agree, this has to be your best so far. The likeness is there and your line quality is wonderful!! Keep it up!
dm - this is a great young matthau. Love the syle, the lines and the overall look!
nelson - as always, I love the style of your sketch and the linework is amazing! I think the likeness is still off though. It just doesn't feel like matthau. He looks like a gangster. I wonder how he would be at a gangster? Could be a new role for him?? The likeness is there, but the feel is off - does that make sense?

My first drawing of the day, 3rd Matthau of the week. You were right ToonMom the drawing was with a gangster look and i really stretched him too much? wich made him loose the likeness so i changed the referençe photo and tryed him on another position. What do you think now? And you´re right in the beginning this man´s face is great for caricature ;D

Nelson, I think your previous posts had a better resemblance to Matthau. In this last one I am seeing Howard Cosell.

nelson. i was thinking the same thing birdy just said. your second attempt was much better. in fact, i don't see much wrong with it at all.
hans- your second one is your best as well. nice work.
dm- well... ditto.

This Mathau is not as easy as he seems, with the big nose jowels etc. He has so many dominant features that if you go to town on all of them, somehow the likeness goes too. I will attempt another colour version and hope to really nail "Oscar" once and for all! some nice work by all you guys! machine Santos will do about 2,345 versions I think.

Hummm Whos Howard Cosell He has some reminiscences from Nixon too if anyone noticed. Guess everyone liked the second version Still i like more the last one. I´ll change something. Daniel 2.345??? This could take months acomplishing that but you are right he has a "think-i´m-easy" face but thats not quite true.

fyi: for our European friends: Howard Cosell (ex atttorney turned sportscaster) was a very popular network sports announcer during the 60's and 70's in America. He was a huge fan and friend of Mohammad Ali and was a major personality/announcer with Monday Night football.
