The challenge officially starts tomorrow, but you can get started as soon as you read this.
Starting out we have: Ricky - 5 laurenmacsporren - 5 Joey - 5 lifedoesnt... ebethalan car123 stoontoons toonMom - 5
(if I forgot someone, let me know via PM)
Week 1 rules Draw 5 caricatures of your choice
Standard Rules: 1. All drawings must be done on full sheets of paper. 2. All drawings must be posted by the end of that week 3. If you fail to post 5 drawings for that week, you are out of the challenge
Suggestions: 1. Don't wait until the last minute to post your work - I was too sick on Sunday to post my work on time will not be an acceptable excuse. 2. Try doing at least some shading on your work. - this is not required, but is good to do I think.
Prizes: The winner (the person who does all the drawings for the duration of the challenge) will be able to choose from a list of prizes. The prizes offered will include:
airbrush startup kit (airbrush, hose, paint, cups) Mauri's drawing manual enrollment in Mauri's class Mauri's caricature DVD (if released by then)
- the prizes are not "set in stone", the value will be $30 - $50 (USD) but can pretty much be anything art related. The winner will be able to tell me what they would like for a prize.
Duration: The challenge will go until February 1, 2006
*there will be no breaks for Christmas or Thanksgiving
I think that is everything. If anyone else wants to join in, you have until the end of the week to do so.

Just to make sure this is clear... The winner must go the duration of the challenge, even if everyone else drops out by the second week!
All drawings must be on full sheets of paper... this means you should make your drawings big. Practice filling up the paper. Don't make tiny little drawings, that won't do you any good in the long run. In the US standard size paper is 8.5" by 11", that is the smallest you should use. You can go bigger, that is up to you. (I don't know what size this is in other countries)A3, A4? whichever is smaller of the 2 I think? Our next size bigger is 11x14.
* I almost forgot. I will be joining you in this challenge because I am a major slacker, but I don't qualify for the prize, so someone else will be the winner.

OK for those who use the A3, A4, A5 system, it looks like the US standard size is equivalent to A4, so we should use no smaller than A4 (21 x 29.7cm). Hope that helps! x

toonmom, can we draw a musical group? For instance, can we draw lets say Aerosmith who has 4 members. Can we draw each individual member or will this be considered 1 drawing as a group caricature? Ricky

You could draw them all as long as they are not little drawings. I would like to see each one on a full sheet of paper.

toonmom, I am on a role. I just need a kick in the pants now and then. I have a hardtime sometimes focusing on one thing. I don't really lose interest but I have a habit of doing something for awhile then go on to something else then go back to what I was originally doing then not finishing it and doing something else. But no more excuses, I'm dedicating 100% to caricatures because I really want to get better. I may post one more tonight. I'll try. Ricky
