Since jadachris just got a Wacom and I just dug mine out after being buried for 2 years, I thought this would be a good topic for discussion. Give your tips on working with a graphics tablet or just talk about using one in general. I'm gonna' start by giving this link to setting your tablet up for specific programs. www.wacom.com/tips/tip.cfm?ID=29&STEP=1&category=Tablet

It can draw everything but a straight line ;D I haven't used in it over 2 years so I am a bit rusty with it. It really can't do anything special. If you need any help with Photoshop, just hollar and I'll see if I can help.

hi, yes, I know what you mean about drawing a straight line on the pad, but I use the package painter 5.5 and it gives the option of drawing in straight lines.. just cheating a bit, lol.

I did notice that about Painter, it reminded me of the drawing tool in Flash. I didn't really mean "straight" what I should have said is I can't make my pen follow where I want it to go.

I got my Wacom about three years ago love it. I have one little tip when it gets dirty i find that scrapping a credit card up the tablet cleans the dirt off really well. It about the most useful my credit card has ever been!

A little tip for drawing, NEVER look at your hands, always and only your screen. If you take notice of yoour hands,it will work wrongly in the drawing. Anyone else some tip or tricks? I've just seen the magnificent drawings of Mike,in the "now draw this"-topics ,and I was wondering, how many of you actually own a tablet ? Or who is considering of buying one?

I draw with a wacom 9x12.
One trick some of you have heard, I tape a sheet of paper right over the tablet. This is not to draw on, but just to give me more of a feel that I like. It makes it less slick. I am planning to replace this sheet soon with something with even more texture.

Grant : I think I'm asking a stupid question here. The Cintic you have,I believe it has a flat monitor(yeah that's stupid to say,I allready see someone sitting with a normal monitor on his lap) But when I touch my screen with my fingers,I see a pattern around my fingers, does this happen with you too? Or is this another screen? And what about pressure? I would not dare to press hard on a screen.I don't really understand.

With all the discussion and great artwork everyone has been creating, I decided to dust of the ole Wacom again. Anyone have some tips for settings and such?

No question is a stupid question Hans. The screen is not soft like a laptop screen or an LCD screen. Its quite hard to touch. You can put quite a lot of pressure on it.Its just like drawing on any hard surface. Here is a photo of it

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I want one,i want one.
No serious, The advantage is: done with piles of paper, used to find that one drawing that has it! I use paper like it's going out of fashion, and her's the solution: Environmental Friendly Caricatures! Help nature while having fun!
