Well I now have a new computer. I went for my dream, Apple PowerBook G4. A seventeen inch screen laptop. My plan it to take it with me for gigs to do virtual caricatures. At home I have it set-up now as wireless to go online any where around the house, outside sitting by our fish pond. I will soon have it sent up to print wireless as well. Sorry I just needed to shout it from the roof top! I am looking into a mobile laptop stand to work with my drawing tablet. Right now I just got back online and I will not have a way to scan or print yet. So I will not be postings drawings for now. ;D Yippy, Yah! Yahoo Mike

HANS took the words right out of my mouth or the letters right from my keyboard...
Anyway, HEY YOU ARE WIRELESS. You don't need no stinkin' scanner. You will create and distribute right from your very new laptop.
I'm sort of in a similar way. I recently picked up an iBook with wireless capabilities and enjoy creating digital picks in the comfort of my couch. Also, had my first digital gig last month.
Rock and Roll!

Well thanks for cheering me on. Yes I will need to do more without using the scanner. "I too will master this skill" said grasshopper! I will be installing the software for my wacom tablet. Should not take long. Am I broke? Well maybe for three months. Hey CaricatureShop (Rob)........Your first digital gig last month. Thats great! .....tell me more, how did it go? Mike

Mike,
It was O.K. I literally had my set-up for about a week at the time. Drawing caricatures live with tablet is different than working on a piece at home. I WAS taking too long. But I found some Painter brushes and am working on techniques to become more efficient. The gig was a great opportunity because the party started two hours before I arrived. So the drinks were already kicking in before pen hit pad. While each sketch took longer than with Sharpie, my victims didn't feel a thing.

I have been thinking about getting a Mac now for a long time. We bought one for my son at school. He and this guy both have Apples and were the only one this year to not get viruses, worms etc. Everybody at school plugs there computers in on the schools system. Apples have a different system and are not friendly to viruses. Because of this being so hard, it's not worth the time for the hackers to make trouble for just Apple Computers. A Apple Tech told me yesterday that he knows of no viruse out there right now for the Apple. Apples have been learders for music, video, photo work, and graphics arts. I have been told that these computers don't crash like Windows, and so far it holds true. I plan to use it for business and to take it with me for gigs to do virtual caricatures. This is quite a nice laptop and should do the trick. I have the PowerBook G4. A seventeen inch screen. Here is the link for it. store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72604/wo/CD2lKUjRSzsX2zOyY5e1863419A/0.0.9.1.0.6.21.1.1.1.1.0.0.1.0

Mike,
You made a noble attempt, but please let me jump in.
Why Mac?
They are simply the superior machine. They look cool and perform like a champ. As a 4-time Mac owner, I have to admit my bias. I work on a Windows machine at work so it's not as if I haven't been exposed.
This is going into an entirely different direction. So anyway... Mike, you did well.
