I just did a house party in the Boston burbs. It was at a new McMansion type of place, sort of a Tony Soprano palace. Lavish displays of flowers, two live bands, formal linen table settings ( &[one use] linen to dry your hands in the bath ). There were exorbitant floral displays, including one massive bouquet featuring 3 foot long orchid branches at the raw bar. They even had some framed Roy Orbison signed specs under glass outside the bathroom. Mercy! Anyway, I detected the presence of former J. Geils band front man Peter Wolf, who I drew some years ago at a bar mitzvah not far away. I greeted him with a "I did a bad caricature of you about ten years ago!" Actually it was adequate, if not inspired. He said maybe I could take another swing tonight. As it turned out, I did his wife & her friend or sister, and did quite well with that. And they assured me they loved the last one. Peter himself did not come over, but looked every inch the aging rock star, in black head to toe with his tradmark hat & dark specs. There was also a former Dallas Cowboy (didn't get any names, and it wouldn't stick if I had) and I think a few other sports figures. No Ben Affleck sighting though... JD
