i've had an ongoing rivalry with tooned about which is the better sport, australian football or canadian ice hockey. and i thought it might be interesting to see what other people think. so here's my proposal; tell me, based on the info listed (and tooned, please throw in some about football) and tell me who would win!
if a game of hockey and a game of football were played by the two greatest teams ever, who would win, the hockey players or the football players? (the hockey players have the advantage of home ice, and sharp equipment! also, some of those defencemen are pretty big guys who can break bones if they check you!) tooned, what about the footballers? what advantages would they have? everyone, throw in your two cents and speak on the issue of hockey vs ozzie football (football in canada is very different from the football in australia!)

Wow what a hard comparison.Football is a completley different game. Our game is a very hard game to play. You have to be very tough, and smart to play.if you are not smart.you will get hurt.Since it is only an Australian game, its hard to get across the skill and danger involved in the game.I would love to show a highlight package to you guys to get an understanding of the game. Hockey is global, which is the only reason you have a gold medal ;D Also remember we do not wear any protective gear at all.just shorts and jumper. And its a huge contact sport. and another thing to consider. How many gets to a Hockey game? Our football crowds range from 25 thousand up to 85 thousand.the record for a game is over 100 thousand. But i must admit Stoontoon.i know as much about Hockey as you do Aussie rules footy. ;D

yes hockey is a global sport...so if more people are watching it, doesn't that mean it's the superior game? ;D stanley cup games usually draw larger crowds than regular season games. at the game 7 final of calgary flames vs. tampa bay lightning, there were more than 50,000 in the stadium. that does not include the bars and arenas that play the game or all the television viewers (hockey night in canada averages more than a million viewers!) you need speed, skill (have you ever tried stopping on skates at 60 miles an hour and turning around?) and strength. also fast reflexes and strategy. just like in football, each position has a different strategy to think about. have you ever seen a goalie catch a puck in mid-air while doing the splits, with all that equipment? lightning fast!in hockey, the players need to watch a small black puck, and be able to turn, slide, check, and hit, sometimes all at the same time! does aussie football allow women on the teams? canada has the best woman's hockey team in the world. some of them are faster and more skillful on skates than men! i will give football one advantage that hockey does not have...hockey players have to wear a lot of equipment, because it's a rough game and it's cold, so you don't really get to see much....and those aussies look pretty good in shorts...hmmm...might have to start watching more of it... ;D

As a rule womwan dont play Aussie rules footy. But that is starting to change.Woman competions are turning everywhere now.Its great to see woman have a go at it. I played the game for 10 years, loved it.But i did my knee, requiring a knee reconstruction.A commom football injury. Stoontoon i promise if i come across agame of hockey on pay tv ill sit down and watch it.It does look like a fast game indeed. To be honest the only real thing i know about Hockey,is they love to fight ;D
