Hey everyone.
My name's Lauren (surname not actually macsporren thankfully!) and a friend told me about this forum last night so I thought I'd come and have a look.
I'm not particularly good at art but have been inspired to start practising again by a new series on the BBC called Art School (basically 5 c-list celebrities are thrown into art school with no previous experience). I thought if they can improve then I can!
I've already picked up on some great tips on here, cheers!

Lauren, Hows it going, sure you'll enjoy it here and learn loads. I saw that programme last night too, I dont get the whole concept art stuff myself. The Dali lobster on a phone in the Tate Modern for intance... Its a lobster on a phone!!! thats it!! not art!! Anyway, I'm sure someone will disagree! haha! ;D Sorry to rant, you're just here! but modern art is a pet hate if mine! Have a good look around the boards, Some amazing Artists around here. Lookin forward to seeing some of your work, All the best, C.

Yeah I didn't like Art School last night, I agreed with John even if he was moaning a bit too much!
Did you see episode 1? That was my favourite, it was more technical and actually taught them something about drawing and art. All that abstract stuff is a waste of time I agree!

No Lauren,
Last nights Art school was the first one i seen. I agree'd totally with Johns points of view, had to laugh at his lard mobile phone though. There's not many art telly programmes at the moment. I try not to miss Rolf Harris on Sundays, He is a childhood hero of mine. Think Old Rolf might be one of my next caricatures.

I'm a huuuge fan of Rolf on Art. I've missed all of them so far though, I keep forgetting! Have there been 2 so far in this series? Hope I haven't missed more than that. I met the man himself a few years ago to get my Rolf on Art book signed. He was really nice and very encouraging, I got him to draw the famous cartoon of himself. ;D He's great. Edit: Rolf would be a great subject for a caricature.

I'm sure theres been a few already this series.
Dam, I'd love to meet him, I'm gutted cos in last weeks episode he was in Edinburgh for a live show, Edinburghs' only 40 mins away from where I am, so I've defo gone had I known beforehand. He was organising the largest Mona Lisa painting ever done, was made up of 100 separate canvases. I think he's doing this all over the uk, you may want to try and find out where he'll be next.

Lauren,
Rolf is to be in Trafalgar Square this Sunday with another of his giant paintings. I dont know if you're anywhere near London, but thought I'd let you know.
I'd love to go, but its just a wee bit too far for me to travel.
Cheers!
Craig.

I have no idea who this Rolf guy is, but he will be the next challenge. Oops, it is a new month already isn't it. Welcome to our board.
