Hey Howdy Hey folks!
After about year's delay (due to my lady's battle cancer), I am ready to attempt Caricature.
Just today on my blog, I made a public decalration of my intentions -gulp- so now I guess I have to go through with it!
I have a background in art, even got into college on a scholarship for such. Mostly it has been abstract paintings and drawings of odd perspectives (I can post a link to my gallery if you want to see).
Though I can scribble off a catoony character like a snap, I've never attempted to make them look like anyone from real life.
But thanks to about 4 Amazon.com gift certificates, I now own Keelan Parham's book (and the Lord of the Rings: ROTK Extended DVD) and I am looking forward to getting started.
Excited even! We have cold winters in Oklahoma, so I will have lots of time indoors to practice.
I think, honestly, the hardest thing will be showing my work for feedback. Once I get over that ego-risk, I know I will love this forum (and maybe others, if I learn of them).
Not sure what else there is to tell at this point. But feel free to ask (or read my blog).
Does anyone else here have a blog/journal/weblog? I'd love to read them, so post a link if you would.
OK, well guess I'll be getting to know you as soon as I have some art to show.
Ssssseeya!

Thanks for the into! I hope all is well now with your wife. I think you will like it here and I look forward to seeing some of your work. This is a section for non-caricature art towards the bottom of the main page. You can post anything there.
Enjoy!

Welcome aboard Promo Guy! I hope your wife's doing better these days. I have Epilepsy; and although it could set things back with my wife taking care of me at those times; we manage it well. All that to say that I wish you two the best!
I just submitting some caricatures of my own; but my wife thinks they don't look like caricatures-- so I call them Pagicatures, instead. I guess what I'm encouraging you to do is to just go for it! I've met some nice people here so far, and many are willing to offer there Comments and Critiques:)
Good Luck! Looking foward to seeing your work.

ToonMom/Pagmatic - She's doing great now, it was tough watching her endure radiation. Then she lost her taste buds, so everything tasted like metal to her.
Thankfully, God is good and here we are at Christmastime and she has 100% taste back - just in time for holiday sweets!
That was a close one!
I will see about posting something soon, I don't have a scanner, so photos may have to do - assuming I actually draw something!
Pag - Like your Blog, keep it up!

Hello, from cold Saskatchewan to cold Oklahoma! believe me, I know what cold, freezing weather is all about. We consider it tropical heat when it goes to Minus 30 Celsius (about minus 50 Fahrenheit!). Welcome to our board. Never mind the ego...no one here will say anything insulting or negative against you. We're all artists who want to help each other out, so any feedback we give is toward your work, and will always be a way to improve and grow as an artist. Most of us would probably agree that everyone is insecure about their work, and it's great to share our ideas and comments with other people who share our vision! btw, my blog is angrymonkey01.blogspot.comi'm a little lazy when it comes to updating it, but there's some artwork posted there. my new year's resolution is to do a better job of my blog, and to keep up more regularly to the board. ;D
