There's two aspects to doing live caricature to make money: acquiring the skill & acquiring the "shell", or attitude necessary to do it in public. I've known people who could do great art, but could not do it in public , with a time constraint and an audience of color commentary.
Having the first one won't automatically give you the second, but it helps.
On another forum for caricaturists , someone posed the question:
"Don't you hate it when someone behind you says 'That doesn't look like him!', and they don't know what they're talking about?
I answered : "I hate it more when someone behind you says 'That doesn't look like him!', and they do know what they're talking about." ;-)
the nature of the business is that no one "bats a thousand".
