Have you ever been in the middle of a traditional artwork piec and made a wee error and tried to click undo? and quickly realized.....hmmm there is no undo with paint and brush . I find digital painting a great addition to the arsenal of techniques available and sometimes find myself using the wacom and painter/photoshop program to create and experiment with art a lot these days. Maybe I am too lazy to get out the watercolours or oils? I do feel digital helps traditional because values and contrast warm and cool or the same to the eye in both. Maybe some of you folks share some of these ideas?

Dan- after first experiencing photoshop at the animation studio I worked at, I couldn't wait to be able to have one of my own... I don't consider it lazy because one still needs to have the experience, know the basics of art and have worked at them- I feel the programs are a great way to learn and grow and improve, and what's wrong with a little more convenience thrown in? I love the wacom stylus, using a mouse is like trying to draw with a baked potato. And heck, I've found myself trying to click undo while working a crossword puzzle!!!

Hey Dan I'm beginning to use the two together. As an example I use pastel quite a bit but have found that they do not come across well on The board. To day I did a caricature in pen, scanned it in the computer, Did a fill on the main areas, And finished the rest using pastels. The effect was much better than what I have been doing. I have never used paint programs untill I started on this board. They certainly have there place ,but I don't believe they will ever replace traditional tools for me. I have often wonder what the artist of old would do with the new tecnology .
