Bald eagle done with a black Bic pen. Not using a pencil is difficult for me, but it's getting easier.

Toonmom And Stoons .......outstanding......What type of paper did you use? ;D Has anyone tried the cardstock 110 lb copy paper? or the smooth bristle paper...and does it make a difference? just wondering I have been using the cheap sketch or printer paper.

scottg, i use the cardstock or smooth bristleboard. i also like the plainsfield cover paper. i use the copy paper for quick sketches, because it's cheaper, and then switch to the cardstock for the finished drawing. just take note that when you're drawing with ink on the smooth bristleboard, you have to be careful not to rest your hand on the paper, as the ink will smudge very easily.

StoonToons...that is beautiful! I have a question for everyone though....
If you don't use a pencil, how do you get the proportions so accurate!? I've tried to draw without sketching, and just can't do it yet. I get so frustrated by my inability to draw what I see! Does it help to have your paper standing upright, or does everyone hold their paper on their desk...or lap, like I do?

I did the eagle in a small sketch book laying flat on the desk. It takes some practice, but if you keep trying you will get it.
forgot to comment on your drawing stoons! Is this for another series? She looks like a vampire.

actually, it is a real person...what i tried to do, though, was exaggerate a few of her characteristics, like the false nails and the dark lips. i wanted to experiment with different textures, and how to use pens to do that. but that's an interesting idea....first angels, then vampires...hmmm....
