well it started out being japanese cartoons. manga being the comic books or graphic novels, anime being the animated version. but its just a style, and eventual manga and anime applied to that basic style, not just the japanese comics/cartoons. like there are exceptions to the rules of course, ie Ranma which is classed as anime even tho it isnt that general style. iono. im not an expert. im just a 16 yr old gurl who watches any anime she can get her hands on, ditto for reading manga:P oh and also the brand manga is one of the classic anime movie/series brands, manga having been around earlier than common anime.... so it gets confusing

I think it is just the style. Big eyes, spikey hair, pointy chin, that sort of look. They sort of remind me of elf's a little bit in the way they look.

Manga is just the book version of anime.
The difference between manga and anime is that facial expressions are used more in mange because there are no voices to help with the emotions.

T_T I'm gonna kill it for you with this one.
Anime is any animation. It's just how japanese people would say cartoons. So like batman = anime
And for them manga = comic

lots of studying. a lot of how to books and the usual - just drawing what you see on tv or in manga and recreating images and characters to your own liking. tha'ts how I learned...I was big into the stuff before it became huge all over america/canada, and started with that...practice practice practice... eventually, you adapt and learn and create your own style with it... it's actually taken me about...4 years or so until I've been able to draw anime/manga without any reference, or looking like one artist's style entirely and making my own...=)

I think thats now, 'Manga' 'comics' or 'belgium comics' or 'french comics' or 'chinese manga' have to be seen without to glue the word on. It was good there is 20 years ago. But now, style are more and more mixed ( with the share of information with internet ), and it's good for the global. For exemple : 'pocahontas' & 'mulan' of Walt disney for me ar more Manga style than 'Akira' drawing ! So, it's hard to know describe and range into case all different style. That's why I find funny all this name and I'm the first to play with the calling 'Manga' witch now, don't mean really nothing to describe a style cause the view of manga by you is not maybe the same vision as me. So, I still continue to say, that's the emmotional transmition of a drawing is the MAIN point a drawer have to consider. After, for me I'm able to choose in all style to can express myself the more sharpen.
