Not bad for a first attempt, practice on individual thngs then combine them. Your eyes and hair are great for a BG but the face shape needs work.
You have the How To Draw Manga books? I own volumes 1-7 and the 3 How to Draw Anime books.

I got 2 books (on manga) for Christmas: How to Draw Manga by Kathy Coope and Manga Mania by Christopher Hart.
I sort of rushed this drawing, I should have taken a little more time on it. Any advice on how to vary the line weights?

I've read Christopher Heart's books, actuall I have them, don't listen too him, it's far too western and the style is in cheap Pokemon and Digimon levels.

To tell you the truth, I'm not impressed with either book, but I haven't read either one yet. I kind of flipped through both and started to read both (first few pages is all).

not bad, adjust the proportions and try to redraw it to see how you may want to adjust it and it'll turn out swell! Practice makes perfect!
