Well got my sketchbook for my art lessons at school, got given homework to draw a natural form. In which i have picked a pine cone, i kind of googled the image though. What I Tried To Draw: What I Sketched: I got told by my teacher to exaggerate feature sin which i did, the picture isn't accurate but that isn't something that matters as its your own drawing. take note this wasn't done with proper pencils for sketch/shading as i lost them, this is a regular HB pencil i found. p.s. wasn't sure about scanning greyscale but it worked, it also looks like theres a shadow but thats just dust from my scanner, its not been used for a long time.

At the moment I'm waiting for my art teacher to return to school to see if i can use my school sketchbook to draw anything in, it saves me going out and buying some quality paper when i already have some. I'll also have to pick myself up some good shading pencils sometime but the only chance is Saturdays but I'm always training then.

Keep at it mate...The cone that you've drawn looks a bit strange from that angle...Try googling a cone standing upright.

I was going to draw the one on the left but unfortunatley losing my sketch pencils i did the one on the right which wouldnt require as much toning to define parts.

jtk: draw anything and everything. You'll be surprised at how much you'll improve. You have boat loads of talent, now just fine tune it and you'll quickly become a master. Keep up the great work. Oh, also, try to draw the difficult subjects such as hands because even though it will be tough learn from what is wrong. Think of every drawing (whether good or bad) is a stepping stone to a better drawing next time. Don't give up, don't get discouraged, and remember the most important rule and that's HAVE FUN!!!! Basically the project i've been doing in school is to become familiar with other mediums, though still basically the basics mediums. One thing used was a fineliner and to say it was my first time using it for art (used it for plans in tehcnology before) i was pretty surprised with the result.
