Toonmom: Great drawing here. The light fixture has a great 3d quality to it.

Thanks DM. The assignment was to find something antique with three different textures on it, bring it into class and draw it. Out of the three, it was my least favorite to do.

My instructor has a thing for abstract. Therefore, anything we do leans towards abstract at least a little.

The reason i thought it was abstract and ive noticed a few others, as certain details seem to look like there jumping out towards you.

I Like the way the cards look as if they are coming at you.I know those are yu-gi-uh cards but to me they represent life chooses for the child.Living with the cards you have been dealt.
What did others say in your critique ?Nice work!!!!

The assignment for the portraits was to do a series of 3 drawings with 3 different (unrelated) objects in each one. Since I have 3 sons, I chose to use them as my subject. Then I thought of Three of my Favorite Things, which had a double meaning - my favorite being my boys and each of their favorite things in the drawing. I didn't have time to do the third drawing, but I will do it at home this summer.
As for how long it took - class was 6 weeks long with a schedule of 5 hours a day, three days a week. I was supposed to do a total of 6 drawings, but I only did 4. I worked on each one a little more than a week. I wasn't in class working for 15 hours a week though. I usually left about an hour early and I walked around 5-10 minutes every hour or so. So to answer your question Larry, I have no clue how long! Each one took less time, that I do know.
