Here is the lesson requested by stoontoon. ok let see if i can explain this.I have never done this before.ok After i scan in my toon, clean it up with the eraser tool.Convert it to cmyk,it's ready to color. i then start to add color with the fill tool. Ok i zoom in to do the finer work ,like highlights to the eyes. With the airbrush tool i draw darker blue lines. The i would add white highlight lines after i finished the blue.I do not always do eyes this way.depends on what mood i am in. Ok with the burn tool i add dark tone to the face.I would also click on the brush tool and use the marker effect to add grey shadow. While working with the markers i use the magic wand to highlight the hair. Now i slowly build up the hair using a darker brown.I also adjust the opacity to build the hair up. Now with the airbrush tool,i add white highlights to the hair. Again with the airbrush tool,i highlight the paint on the shirt, brush and start to add a quick background color. Ok that's it,ill put the final toon in the draw me gallery.Hope this kind of made sense if you have a question please ask.Again i hope this kind of make a bit of sense.I had about 20 screet shots to use. I won't get a chance to try it out until I get back from Vegas, but it looks good.
What resolution do you scan your image at?

Grant, very coo.l I have never colored in photoshop before. When you convert the drawing to cmyk what does that do to it? I 'll have to try coloring something. I'll post it as well.
Great lesson

Thanks guys.Toonmom they are scanned in at 300. Jadachris you can do it using the mouse,Like everything it takes practice.I have not had a tablet that long.Just zoom in a bit when you need more control. It all come down to practice and experimenting. Like i have said, the way i do it may not be the best way.And the more i learn the more ill do things different. But when it is all done, its the end product you have to be happy with. Mauri i can give you a big explanation on cmyk.If i knew a lot about it that is ;D.I do not know a lot about the different ways of doing stuff. But most cartoonist convert to cmyk,so i did the same. The colors come out a lot better.Sorry but my knowledge is really basic with photoshop.Toonmom would probably know more. But the more i learn, the more i share with yo guys. Cheers Grant

The jist of it, is CMYK is used for print work and RGB is used for screen work.

Is it not easier to use layers instead of painting straight onto the base image when you're doing colouring?

Basically it maks it easier to blend colours together smoothly, and if you make a mistake you won't have to try and correct it on the original image, just the little bit on the layer you made the mistake on...
