toonmom, I have a question about the 5 caricatures. Lets say on day 1 we draw the caricature, day 2 are we drawing a caricature of our caricature, then day 3 draw a caricature of day 2's caricature and so on and so forth or are we drawing 5 completely different caricatures? ricky

That may be the "rules" one of the weeks (because I think it's good practice), but not every week. For the most part it will be to draw 5 caricatures using a photo reference. After the first week, I will change the rules a little each week. For example; use a black marker with no pencil drawing first, or color one of them, or draw the same person 5 times, or do a drawing of your drawing 5 times, etc.
*I hope this is making sense

Just realised I took all of my art materials home for the summer and didn't bring them back with me. Oh well, I'll have to improvise I guess!

it makes perfect sense toonmom. I missed understood the first time. I have to work hard at focusing on this...that will be a challenge in itself for me, but I'm up for it. Thank you for creating this. Ricky

Thanks Terry, I will keep trying until I get the proper sizing. I just recieved Mauri's guide on drawing caricatures so that will be a big help on my "sloppy eyes". Take care, Joey

I think the photo reference should be included for likeness comparison, etc.

Actually, likeness has nothing to do with this challege. The bottom line is to draw on an almost daily basis and that's it. That is why it's a slackers challenge!

Phew, that's a relief! I attempted Rolf Harris earlier, only a really quick 2-minute sketch with not much likeness, but thought I'd post it anyway since you asked about Rolf earlier Toonmom Very lame and scribbled I know but the first caricature I've ever attempted. Well second, but Eddie Murphy got binned so in my mind it doesn't count

i like this sketch.you have made a nice work, and now is time to "fly", ....try to do your own lines even it don{t look so like to rolf.....i think it will be your particular vision of him.forget the likeness and made some sketches, then, i hope you can find who is yours rolf vision, and scan it. remember : we see, what we want to see.

Thanks for the e-mail - I am a total slacker but have many and varied excuses I won't be able to knock out one a day but I'm certainly going to make the effort to get more caricatures going thanks to the kick up the behind:)

might be fun- has this been done yet? draw a person, famous or not, as anything other than human: a bird, a refrigerator, a pencil, a dog, a car, whatever they remind you of.
might even be fun for the regular monthly challenge

I was just thinking that today when I did rev al - what kind of dog would he be? Draw him as a dog... spooky Dave, we are thinking alike.
That would be a fun challenge!
