i know that there's already been some thread similar to this..but...
who are the caricature artists that have influenced, inspired, or impressed you the most.. and why do you like em? i know it's hard to pick out specific ones when there are so many outstanding talents around!
for me,
no.1 is pretty obvious... kruger. he's such an inspiration, and shows how good caricature art can get! he has a variety of cool styes, but i am especially impressed by his extremely detailed realism. his handling of skin texture is amazing, but he doesn't seem to just get lost in the detail, because the overall composition and look of his paintings is amazing too! his stallone totally blows me away each time i look at it. i will never cease to be amazed! if only i could get as good as him!!!
no.2 is probably jota leal. this guy has a style very similar to kruger.. although there are some differences. i like how he focuses in on details on some parts of the face and then lets other parts go out of focus (if you get what i mean). his stuff is also quite dramatic.. it demands a second look. michael jordan, raul sanchez, and babe ruth are probably my favorite ones by him, but he has lots of other amazing ones.
no.3 is op de beeck. i think that what he does with his
pencils is amazing. i love his sketching style and his exaggeration. there is a lot one can learn from looking at his drawings! einstein and claus are masterpiece drawings!
no.4 is vizcarra. his stuff is less realistic and more simple, but that's part of what i like about his style. his stuff is very funny!
no.5 is jason seiler. his illustrations are awesome. they have a great level of realism without overdoing the details. his drawing style has inspired and influenced me.
no.6 is santiago dufour. he has a very unique style. he has some interesting colors going on in his work and some great exaggeration. i think he is one of the only caricaturists that makes the big head, small body thing work well and add to the humor and overall quality of the work.
no.7 is sal navarro. i haven't heard too many people talk about him but i think his use of cross-hatching and his technique for drawing hair is really cool! his arafat and castro are awesome!
no.8, is.... no, don't worry i won't bore ya to death. sorry for making this so stinking long. there are many other greats, but these are the mains ones that really stick out in my mind. these guys' caricatures have helped me develop by me being able to look at their stuff and just wanting to be able to produce work of the same quality as theirs'.
i'll be interested to here who your guys' caricature influences are..
