The worst comparison reference I have found is such called average face. My worst caricatures have been drawn thinking of that so called average useless face... For example, I have this client whose nose is a lot biger than average, BUT in his own face, his nose seems to be of regular size, so as I compared with average..... LIKENES IS LOST! Then this other client whose separation between eyes is bigger than average, but it happens that according to her own features, eyes seem to be very close toghether.... but teacher says, compare vs. average, so once again... LIKENESS IS LOST! So I don't believe in that b**ch with such average face, very bad reference, ... Who is my reference face then? THE VICTIM ITSELF!, much more trustable and better results if I compare victim's facial features against eachother. How does a banana taste compared to a pizza? no way. Sorry, but I disagree with such advice. It just doesn't seem to get the job done right. RC

to me the good result depend of the capacity of see some special features of the victim, that define his or her personality.but, in the most of cases, while i´m searching that, i begin to search another lots of things and at last i have found that my better caricatures don`t have anything particular with the victim in exageration features....in 2005 i ve learn how to play with blots on watercolor and then found a face, searching the victim after,... far example in this serie of jazz.i hope it could aid. virtualart.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=gallery&action=display&thread=1133482084
