it is nearly impossible to find any images of these guys' work on the internet for some reason, so i scanned these photos from a book i've had for years. these are puppets from a 1980s british show called "spitting image", which basically featured puppet sketches making fun of famous people, mostly british political figures. there were also a couple of specials made for american audiences, which i guess is where most of the puppets features here are from. anyway, they were created by two political cartoonists named fluck and law, and were a huge, huge influence on my style in my early caricaturing days. so i thought i'd share some of there work with you. (the book took some water damage from a leaking pipe many years ago, so that's the reason for the damage to some of the photos.) enjoy! woody allen and mia farrow: bill cosby: clint eastwood: pee-wee-herman: dustin hoffman, robert de niro and meryl streep: jack nicholson: leonard nimoy: prince charles: mick jagger: madonna: walter mathau (the only one of these photos collected from the internet rather than scanned from the book): bette midler: queen elizabeth: bruse springsteen: sylvester stallone: barbra streisand:

excuse me? are you actually accusing me of copying my bette midler caricature? i ignore a lot of your insulting remarks, horate, but you're crossing a line there, throwing around accusations of plagiarism. as i said, these guys had a big influence on my style early on, but i did not create a copy of their work. in fact, i hadn't looked at this book at all in years at the time i did my initial sketches. there are bound to be similarities, but there are clear differences as well.

Don, Spitting Image is what got me started along the caricature road. Fluck & Law IMO are up there with the best in the business. Heres a few scans from a book I have... I have a few more on my HD that i'll submit later. C ;D

I like a lot this guy he has a unique style for make caricatures... he is a monster who is ? now ,...,...i found valid to have influences, is a natural thing when we like something, ok, the point is not to do something similar to the origininal, and later to present to the rest like his own creation, anyway i know is dificult to do something unique. But it is possible, it depend of us to do or not.it depend of have the balls and try to do something of our own spirit or mental process and,...cof cof...lots of blah blah....conceptual things traduced on material and visual things.Ok,....i sound insulting yea,.....sorry for that but is my most honest opinion, ...i don`t like when we use a patron for make things specially in the caricature-creation area, i prefer to create with our naturals tools, that we have.So this is my message to all : don´t continue copying trying to be accepted in the circle,....try to do something that conect ur message with the rest of world without copying styles.thats all and sorry for my bad english.i don´t wana hurt anybody with my stupids comments so go on and no take it so serious cause really they don´t really matter at all.

Thanks for posting these Don, they brought back some great memories, I think the fact your bette midler was influenced by these is great, we all take our influences from people/pictures we admire, don't rise to the bait man, you don't need to justify yourself to anyone, your talent is obvious for all to see, my suggestion would be to ignore such comments, I do all the time, but if you said it about me I would respond, if you get my point.

the perpetrator has been sent a personal message. thanx for the encouragement.
i'd swear i just posted this message, craig, but it's not here, so i guess something went wrong: thanx for posting those! it's very exciting to me (probably more exciting than it should be to anyone of sound mind, truth be told), to finally see spitting image pictures i've never seen before! i don't recognize that last guy though. is he someone not likely to be recognized outside great britain?
