Well..I,ve taken a break from drawing full time to work on my much neglected portfolio. I also want to make a website this winter. Basically, I draw whereever I can find lots of people gathering with money in their pockets. I've drawn at boardwalks, which are great except when a thunderstorm rains you out and wrecks your stuff. Flea Markets can be good...or really really bad. My tip for flea markets is to scope them out first. See what the price range is on some other vendor's stuff. If it peaks at $5.00 then skip it! But if they have jewely and more pricey stuff then you could do well. I've drawn at bars and done okay but I don't really like drunk people so...I do this only if I want some quick cash for a present or something. Parties and weddings and such are fun but pretty random unless you can build a solid client base. That requires staying in one place for a while and I move too much. I've also drawn at amusement parks and they can be great fun and if you're just starting there's no better school! However...they take a huge cut of what you do. Right now I'm doing some free or supercheap projects so I can introduce myself to this small town I just moved to. I learned that sometimes you need to "prime the pump" by giving out some samples and let those people spread your reputation for you. I've also taken little adds out in the paper and I got a lot of attention that way. Yes...you can buy celebrity these days!

ps...what does BTW mean?

I'm an agent and contract out party work nationwide. I draw at events locally in the DC/Northern VA and Baltimore areas.
JW, I've heard that about the other retail spots in Vegas as well. Is the spot your own, or are you working a Fasen retail location?

i've mentioned this several times before, but for those of you who haven't read it, i go down to our local waterfront during the summer, as often as i can afford to take time away from my regular job. it can be very lucrative, when the cruise ships come in and american tourists start walking around, literally looking for things to spend money on.
