Anything through the NCN takes a long time. I ordered some DVDs from them back in January. The cashed the check, but I still haven't gotten anything from them. It takes weeks to hear back from anyone there. I'm not sure why it takes them so long to process anything.

you have to ask for acceptence to join....thats a problem for me from the jump....if its a brotherhood to help others..then you shouldn't need to be screened before joining...thats just my 2 cents I really don't understand what your saying here. You can't join ANY orginization without you asking if can join - or them asking you if you want to join.

If there's questions to know if you "deserve" to be part of it, you really should ask only one question,is it worth the bother? I don't know,I've never tried to join...

If I'm not mistaken, you have to be a member of the NCN to join the forum. It takes several months for them to complete your membership. After that, you can join the forum which then takes some time too. - I only joined for Exaggerated Features, which was well worth it.

I think it's hard just because all the volunters doing the various jobs all have other "real" jobs to do and families and whatever other stuff to do.
Just disorganizied - which is to bad IMO. When they run for office they need to understand the responsibilties and time involved.

i guess what i'm saying is.....if its a place of learning and teaching.why is it so hard to get in...unless caricatures have some deep dark secret thats only availaible from joining the NCN.... The NCN isn't an organization for learning how to draw caricatures. It's a trade association of professional caricaturists. Yes, you learn a lot about the art of caricature, get exposed to dozens of new techniques and methods, learn about the buisness side of caricature in it's various forms, etc.... all this is done through networking with members, the conventions and the Exaggerated Features magazine. Even so, only professional caricaturists, meaning those that earn some portion of their living doing caricature art, are eligible for membership. The membership application process should not take more than a few weeks. You are required to send in self promotion materials with your work on it, or some other proof that you do caricatures professionally. That might mean parties, at a theme park, conventions, private commissions, etc. The NCN office manager needs to process the application, review the submissions and either approve or disapprove the applicant. This should take 2-3 weeks tops. If it's taking longer, start bugging the crap out of the NCN office manager via the email address used for submission. He gets PAID to do this. As for forum use, it's a separate process. You must first be a full NCN member in good standing. Once this is accomplished, you register on the forum. After that short process (register, respond to an emailed confirmation) you are placed in a queue where the office manager needs to check and make sure you are a member in good standing. This should be a process of only a few days. Again, the office manager is PAID to do this kind of work. If it takes longer than a week, start sending the emails.
