Hi guys
I've read the "new forum" post where you all sing the praises of NCN.
What I wanted to ask is, being a UK caricaturist, is it worth joining NCN. I know they are an international network but having had a very good look round their site, it's clear that it's primary focus IS the U.S.
What are the practical benefits of membership?

There are MANY members of the NCN from the UK and beyond. It's definitley worth it.

What are the practical benefits of membership?
The educational benefits alone are incredible. This forum is wonderful, and very active, but the NCN Forum (which you have to be a member to check out) is just as active and the level of talent is such that - well, my stuff is certainly on the bottom rungs. People like Jan OpdeBeeck and Tom Richmond get on there and tell us how they draw and how they deal with business. The NCN quarterly magazine is excellent, and the only one in the world exclusively dedicated to the art of caricature, and the entire cost of membership is less than the cost of a subscription to some other magazines. The convention - well - I've already talked about that elsewhere. Networking opportunities with other artists and agents abound, so making back your financial investment is certainly not out of the question. The comradery that you develop with the other members is amazing, particularly if you go to the conventions. I don't know, I could easily go on and on about NCN benefits, and if you ask me to, I suppose I will - I'm the strongest advocate you can imagine for the association. But the membership fee is so low that if you join for a year and decide it's absolutely terrible, than you're still not out much money. So decide for yourself.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I sent an application form and PayPal'd my fee to join the NCN at the beginning of June. The money has gone, but as yet I've not heard anything - I even e-mailed the admin address but have had no reply back from that either.
Does it usually take this long?

- No not usually that long I think from memory I was allowed to register on the forum within three days - I think I was advised by email - certainly have never received anything by post mail from the NCN. I'd be firing another email off - I'll send one for you. Cheers Terry

I had a lot of problems getting approved.think it was about 6 weeks before it happened.Pag helped me out by constantly sending emails and asking in the forum.I think it was a stuff up on there behalf.

you have to ask for acceptence to join....thats a problem for me from the jump....if its a brotherhood to help others..then you shouldn't need to be screened before joining...thats just my 2 cents
