Thanks for showing these, loads of familiar faces here! Even a few from this forum! So I hope to so lots of caricatures from everyone! I adore these pictures, it seems like neing amongst other caricaturists raises the level of the caricatures, and the fun for sure!!
I will find out soon for myself as I 'm going to a caricature-festival in france, where I'm featured artist. Looking forward to that! (easter weekend)

I'm on the LOOP and NCN Forum caricature boards, and just found out about this one. I'm a party caricaturist and caricature artist booking agent. My site is at www.the-nose.comAnd thanks for the drawing, Nelson! Will post this info under the appropriate topic later. Thanks!

man, i was actually torn between whether or not i should even look at these photos, figuring it could only add to my torture over not being able to go! maybe i should have followed that instinct, because now it's killing me even more! it looks like it was very well attended. some faces i recognize, many i don't (who's the lovely red-haired girl, tad?). what was teller doing there?!

it looks like it was very well attended. some faces i recognize, many i don't (who's the lovely red-haired girl, tad?). what was teller doing there?! I think we had about 175 competing artists this year (plus guests and spouses and children). The red-head is Marlo Meekins, a young - but very talented - artist out of New Jersey. See her site at www.marlomeekins.com

It was really indescribable, if you weren't there. I mean, you're all into this caricature thing if you're on this board. But could you imagine staying up, night after night, past five in the morning to draw caricatures in the convention room? Without experiencing it, you would never have convinced me that I'd be that guy. (And whenever I left the drawing room, regardless of what time it was, even on the last night when I left at 6:30 am, the room was always at least half full of caricaturists maniacally working on their next piece, cackling madly with savage leers, drool seeping unnoticed down their jaws)... I mean, we were in Vegas for a week. I left the hotel for a total of maybe an hour and a half, because I wanted to spend my time drawing and watching the artists. When I finally did take a moment to see the city, it was because the drawing room had been locked down. The energy was incredible and palpaple, the talent, unbelievable, the inventiveness and ingenuity, astounding. See, there I go, sounding like a used car salesman. I'll just shut up. I can't really describe it, and if you don't actually go, you wouldn't get it. But I guess I can show you a few of my favorite pictures done of me there to give you a little taste. Court Jones, who went on to win top honors for other pieces he did there, did this one. Steve Silver, creator of Kim Possible, somehow sketched this when I wasn't looking. How do you draw a straight on caricature of someone without them noticing? Jan Op Debeeck, whose work, I think, is nothing short of amazing, did this one in about five minutes. With 175 competing artists, the level of talent ranged from very poor to astounding, so most of us felt reasonably comfortable to be sitting next to other artists whose work was better than ours. (Okay, so I was a bit intimidated. But I hung my work up on my wall, too, for others to see)! Can you tell I had a good time?
