I've only been drawing carciatures for a short time now and on spare time. I usually sketch them with a regular #2 pencil then when I feel I've gotten were I want to go I go over my lines with ink and erase the pencil. Now, After looking at alot of post here, my work seems very dark and blaw!! How can I achieve the more smooth look thatmost others on the site have?
Just curious.

a couple of suggestions: 1. what are you using to ink? based on a couple of your drawings i've looked at, it looks like you're using a fine-tip pen. good for inking many kinds of artwork, but for something as broad as the simple black-and-whte line-drawing caricature, a marker that allows more variety in thickness of line gives a much nicer look. or... 2. forget inking altogether. caricaturists doing a crawing for a paying should ususally use markers, because that's the look the general public seems to expect/ prefer, but for your own personal caricature collection, i personally like the rough look that comes from just not cleaning up your original sketch. it makes it seem more spontaneous and dynamic, even though you may have spent a lot of time getting it right.

Yeah, pretty much #2 pencil then a fine tip marker. I want to color them on my computer, but am having a hard time. I have a wacom Graphire 3 and Painter 7 and Photosop Elements. Any suggestions on how to start laying out the color, brushes etc.?
