i think every caricaturist has at least one: that one celebrity you've tried a hundred thousand times to caricature, and for some indiscernable reason, you're just not capable of getting it right. mine's eminem. i've always hated his "music" and his annoying angry-at-the-world, never-show-any-sign-of-a-sense-of-humour, flipping-the-bird-in-every-picture-he-takes persona, but when i started trying to caricature him, i started hating him even more. i just can't nail that guy down! i don't feel too bad about it, because to be honest, i've only ever seen two caricaturists' drawings of eminem that i thought did look like him (one was jason seiler and the other i never found out who the artist was).
ANYWAY (i always ramble too much), just out of curiosity, who is everyone else's most elusive prey?

I tend to give up if I can't get it right quickly. Arnold is about the only one I kept trying with and I just can't get a likeness with him. Eminem is hard and you're right, Jason's is about the only good caricature I've seen of him.

I have had a lot of trouble with drawing Arnold Schwarzenegger (one of the reasons for that could be that he was one of my first "caricatures" and i hope i have improved a lot since then, so i'll have another shot at him soon)... Though at first sight you'd think it would be "easy" because he has a one-of-a-kind face..

I thought Arnold was going to be easy as well. Actually, if you look at all the caricatures of him, few are good.

i agree. it took me a long time to get one of arnold i liked. same with britney spears. i'm still not 100% sold on the one i have, but i think i'm finally on the right track. the only really good britney i think i've seen so far was niall's.

I was thinking to myself,"Hey listen to ourselves,like a bunch of old wifes" In my case only the wife thing was incorrect.So i took a head dive on one,and I think I have hit it BIG TIME ! ! ! ! !
I am very busy colouring it right now.I will post it ASAP!
my advise now try try and try again! If it won't work ,do something else,and try again.

hey, i never said anything about giving up! i keep trying eminem AND dave matthews over and over, and i intend to keep trying until either i finally get them right or i die. i'm obsessive that way.

Yep you're right! keep trying and going back.
I had to speak for myself,I gave up,in fact every time I started one of them I must have immediatly started by making the mistake I did not now!

Here's my Arnold.  I didn't like the first one I did, but it did have a few things I thought came out OK. So, I put away the original and used the first drawing as my source. I might try adding some color to this one. In terms of getting a good likeness, I think this one is my best effort to date. |
