I'm not sure where this really belongs, but I would like to discuss how to analyze a person. We have not done this and I think it will be very valuable to everyone. Here is a photo of someone (Jared Leto) who other than his hair and gorgeous eyes, doesn't have any features that really stand out. So, when you first sit down to draw a caricature of him, what do you tell yourself? I have a very hard time with this, that's why (I think) I can't exaggerate well. You are welcome to post a drawing of him, but if you do, tell us about your thoughts when you did it too. What I notice about him: I am bad at this, but I am going to try it. His hair is a little crazy, but that is obvious. His eyes seem close together. Bottom lip seems big for a man, not much top lip. Bushy eyebrows, very close to the eyes and they angle towards the nose. He has a wedged shape face. I might be way off on those, but I am giving it a shot. What does everyone else see? What would you exaggerate?

Wide cheekbones, line towards the chin. line between lips,is a strong waved line. Nose starts small, ends bigger. Underlip leans forwards, marking the chin very clearly. hey this is difficult in another language.(I'll spare you flemish)

Hey guys, this is BIG fun! I've read the discriptions, and without looking again at the picture, drawn the face very light and rough. Then I added some features of the man from the reference, and yes,it's a funny caricature! Not how I go about things, but really refreshing. This would be a fun game! someone (or more) give us a discription like this,we all make a rough sketch, and when everyone is ready ,the photo is published and we all add our details for the final caricature to be posted alongside the prime-sketch. Anybody interested?

that sounds like fun! i've had some experience drawing real people from someone's description (worked with the police on a murder suspect). it's difficult to do, because someone else will not have the same mental picture as you, and the words don't always make sense. but it's a great challenge and worth trying. it sharpens your skills as an artist.
