I just finished placing a link on my site to the Red Cross when this idea rushed to the top of my head: Why don't we, much like other entertainers, set up a forum for assisting the much needed relief from the hurricane? Here is the thought: - Establish a time frame
- Determine the type of work to be considered (BW, quick digital, etc.)
- Advertise through the Virtual Art site and our individual site for the sale of caricatures
- Donate all sales to the Relief Effort
What are your thoughts? I think it would be exciting and fulfilling to work collectively for such a worthy cause. |

It would need to go straight to the people that need it,there's loads of shark around lurking for money.
I had a weird feeling about the whole situation.On the tsunami disaster,almost instantly help to the other side of the world was delivered,and now in own country,it takes almost a week to start up...
I mean,what's up in america?

You are dead on with the reaction time.
As far as allocating the proceeds, I thought whatever we establish and collect would go directly to the Red Cross.

Here's another idea ignited by Hans' last line. Maybe we all contribute to a single illustration with a Southern Coastal flavor. One person starts and mails it to another caricaturist. Once we get everyone (or as many as we can) we auction it off via eBay. Strip cartoonists did this about 20 years ago with another theme.

Good question, Hans. I hope all members are accounted for. I don't think I'm quite up to the level of selling any caricatures, but I'd like to help!!! I think it sounds like a wonderful idea. I'll keep checking in to see what everyone decides. Count me in. Ebeth

What if we all send an original drawing to one point/person ,and sell it all from one central point?

It would be easier I think to organize if we had one central place to submit for sale. Good idea.
