It looks good to me aswell toonmom, ive only ever finished one painting in my life and that was of stonehenge on a pretty large piece of canvas, but my art teacher kept it for the wall at school instead of letting me take it home. but it wasn't good at all really.
But that painting looks good to me. How long did it take to complete?, done at art school?

This is the first painting I did in art class (watercolor I). I'm guessing at about 2-3 hours on painting time, maybe less. The size is only 7.5"x15" (I think), so it's pretty small. The instructor doesn't give us much feedback, he just says to play with the paint and see what happens. I would like more structure. I actually started 3 or 4 other paintings since I did this one, but I gave up right away on them.

Have you discussed composition or layout at all in your classes? I'm surprised that the instructor isn't offering you any feedback, or more solid instruction. At my school, we do critiques. Which I hate...but it is a way to see if I'm on the right track and how others respond to my work. It's very negative, with people's feelings getting hurt, instead of giving help, like we do here.

We have not discussed composition, color theory or anything else along those lines, and I don't think we are going to. We will be doing critiques after week 5 (I think). It shouldn't be too bad though, the 4 of us that are in the WC part of the class talk all the time with each other about our paintings.
