Toonmom This is pretty cool. I like this water color. One thing about water colors is there is many cool tricks your can do with it. I look at this and wonder how you do this? How did you do this? I like it. Mike N.

I have no clue how I do it! I've only seen my teacher about 3 hours total the whole semester and we meet for 6 hours per week. We sort of had to teach ourselves I'm glad you guys like it though, at least that makes me feel better!

Toonmom Well I like your watercolor a lot. I am sad that your teacher is not really teaching all that much. I have taken two classes from a very good teacher that would teach us a lot of neat tricks. You once asked me before to show you some of the watercolor work I have done. I have not done too much lately in watercolor because I have been working a lot on my computer caricatures. I share this out of you asking about it before and your nice work here bringing it back to mine. Here I will show you one I did in class with lots of easy tricks The tree trunks are done with strips of tape that I take and rip in-half length wise, then lay it down, but with the two outside edges in. Next I put down dabs of paint then cover it with cellophane wrap and smoosh it to make like rocks you see behind the trees. You do this while it is still wet and take the wrap off then you get what you like. Then I did some background panting and added the grass, which is done with toothbrush as well as the yellow and blue little flowers. This you take with your finger and flick the color onto the page from the brush. At this point I take off the tape for the tree trunks. Then paint some strokes on the trunks. Add the tree leaves, which are applied with sea sponges. The tree branches are painted on with what else, but a little stick of a tree branch! Now just a little touch-up, and your done! Here is a bigger photo if you like to have a closer look. www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=11016661Hope you got a kick out of this and try some of this stuff. Mike N. Cheers!

This is great Mike! We didn't learn too many tricks. He did show us how to rub out the paint (for about 2 hours straight one day). Not much else though. I will try some of your tips though, after classes are over. Thanks for sharing!

toonmom, i love the abstract quality of your work. Very nice shapes and depth happening in your painting. Draw4you, your tips will be most helpful to me, too! Thanks for posting your work.
