Here is my 4th Drawing. I am so disapointed with myself. I am mentally blocked with this one. Oh well 999,999 more before I can get better at this. Joey

Don't be so hard on yourself Joey, it's a good attempt. I like the colouring, it's quite cartoon/comic-like and I've always been a fan of the cartoon style. You say you've got a block.... maybe leave it a couple of days and try and forget about the ones you've already done. When you come back to it, try and start with a fresh attitude towards it. Maybe that might help you? Lauren

Joey, This is actually quite cool looking. Its just a different style, doesnt make it bad at all. Reminds me of the style in a popular animation series 2dtv we have here. Check it out, www.2dtv.co.uk/pages/pictures.htmC.

Tooned is right, it is very frustrating and I can see a definite improvement in your work Joey. And the great thing about this challenge is that it varies and changes every week, so a challenge to come might really inspire you and you'll feel more confident.
I'm finding this week's challenge difficult too. I did one drawing and then tried a second on the same night and it looked really really bad so I haven't touched it for 2 days. I don't actually want to go back to it!! But I will obviously! ;D

Getting better with each one Ricky!
Don't worry about it Joey. As tooned said, just wait until 12 months from now, or even 3 months from now. You have to be here to get there though, so just call these stepping stones and keep doing them. Even the bad drawings lead the way to the good ones down the road.

Okay, here they are in all their glory! Toonmom, we apparently think alike; I also chose to do vtslim. I felt inspired to do each one a little bit differently, so here's the rundown on each. Starting with... I was originally going to just make the hat really big, but then found lots of other things to exaggerate, but I'd already done the eyes, so it resulted in a long-faced beatnik type with really little eyes. Sorry, slim: This next one is sort of a standard caricature. This is what I would probably do if I worked at an amusement park and vtslim sat down in front of me: This one was me just sort of trying a symmetrical, angle-y version. Kinda weird, but I sorta like it: This next one is pretty close to the standard, but I made your nose a little Muppet-y. Plus your smile went under said nose to make your nose seem longer: And finally, this last one is sort of my favorite in concept, but my second least favorite in realization. I tried doing slim with the letters of his name. If you can't quite see them, I'll tell you where they are. The "V" is the face shape, the "t" is the hat, the "S" is the glasses, the "L" is the nose, the "I" is the smile, and the "M" is the little bit of hair right under the mouth: Hope you all enjoy these. Happy Thanksgiving. -- Eric
