Rob - I love it too! It has a Norman Rockwell feel to it (whos work I love). Very nice, I would love to see more like this from you.

Thanks for the feedback! This is such a rich forum.
It was a scanned pencil drawing into Painter. Oil pastel was used primarily with airbrush and blender support.

Hi Scott, did u scan a drawing in first or was this done directly on the pc ? do you have a tablet, or do u have to use the mouse ? good start, nice skin colours. A couple of things I noticed.. when doing the eyes, try to be more exact - IMO thats where you can lose the likeness - in your caricature his left eyebrow is a bit askew. Maybe the highlight on his nose is a bit big..makes the nose look a little flat.. (not sure here) do u like paintner ? I´m just starting to use it too.. Mark

Scott-
You are on the right path. But keep looking for detail and nuances. What makes BigEars unique? Work on your pics just a bit more for a finished look.

Scott-
One concept to use is to work from dark to light. Keep building from the darkest shadows to the brightest highlights.
A book I can't stop recommending is called DIGITAL CHARACTER DESIGN AND PAINTING from Don Seegmiller. He does a great job of explaining this concept. Check your library or head to Barnes & Nobles.
