Here is another attempt at a self-caricature, this time with a black Tombow brush pen.

Thanks, Hans. I like this style; it is both unfinished and polished at the same time. The textured background also gives it an "Old World" look. I was going to say "Old Master" but was afraid that Joe might be lurking about. ;D

Great job! It's ok, my beak is too big.
By the way, what did you use to draw this?

Well, Toonmom, it was drawn with a 0.7 Lead mechanical pencil, a lot of smudging and erarasing and then I just scan it in, apply color filters, play around with contrast, do a little painting (for soft white hilites), a little smudging and here is the finished result. It takes me no more than 10 to 15 minutes to do one of these. It's all that park training to do a 3-5 minute caricature that pays off.
I think that people have to remember that the computer is just another tool, one that can be used by an artist to create his work. While It does give everyone access to a means for creating artwork, it doesn't, necessarily, make them artists.

not really other than dont think so much and draw light...as you see the lines you want to keep, darken them. Thats what I do...most of the drawings that i do, I start off just scribbling...shapes, lines etc. It also helps if you practice drawing like an artist that you like. I started drawing in a style similar to Al Hirschfeld (the caricaturist) a few years ago and it greatly improved my "line flow" and perspective.....

Hi! Roshanda, Everybody is doing quite well here. This is a good place to learn from each others opinion & feedback & improve our work. I must submit my version. Without your caricature something remains incomplete. Thanks, Makarand
