Ok. Here goes nothing. Please critique my work. I want to get better. Is there enough exaggeration? I moved the image to photbucket.com. Hope it can be seen now. Sorry for any trouble.

A PICTURE (OR 3) IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS! In this example of how two different artists chose to caricaturize TOONMOM we can see how a caricature can be realistic, on one hand, and exaggerated on the other. Both ends of the spectrum are acceptable. ENOUGH SAID!

The point of birdie is : as long as the likeness is there, you can streth as far as you like/dare.
For your drawing, chris,if you really did never do caricatures before, very very good. Now if you lay your drawing next to you,(not the photo of jennifer) and make a new caricature from your drawing, meaning ; exaggerate more what you've exaggerated before. but overall, a good caricature.

BIRDY, those are awesome. Even if you are losing some of the likeness I love how you have really stretched the limit on them, as well as on the Terry Bradshaw ones. HANS, thanks for the compliment. I have been drawing for a long time but I find myself to be really tight in my drawings. I don't make up much of anything that I draw (usually drawing from life or photo) so caricatures are a stretch for me in that I am having to learn to loosen up and really just go for it I guess. Thanks for the idea as well. I will try exaggerating my first caricature. Love the site EVERYONE!

OK, so here is my attempt at further exaggerating from my first caricature. I know that I could still go much further, but that is where I am struggling. I couldn't decide if I liked her better with or without the earrings so I just got rid of them in PhotoShop.

I think you've got it, chris. Your second drawing, with or without the earings, is much more exaggerated than the first. By comparison, the first looks more like a portrait.
Now the question is, how far can you push it when you do an exageration of the second drawing?
I think I like the ear rings, too.

All thumbs up from here, nice job Chris! But , indeed, the question could rize...how much more ? Well....there is only one way of finfing out. Do it,and over again, untill you think, that's a bridge too far. This will sharpen your insights a lot. Still, you got it allready, I mean, what's there to loose now?Nothing! so go for it! if you think the over-exaggerated drawing sucks, .....don't tell or don't show( hahaha), or DO tell and show, so we can help out if needed. You'll see this is fun! Bigtime!

Is it still February? This is the fourth drawing of Ms Garner I did before I got on paper what I was seeing in my head. I'm not really thrilled with the result, but I guess it'll do. All the other posts have been great.

Chris, i have another comment concerning the earrings: always keep in mind whether the silhouette of your drawing is interesting. if you look at the the two heads you can see now that the one on the right looks a bit bare or lacking compared to the one with the earrings, they add a nice balance to the composition. they also drag her earlobes down with them, which adds a nice comic touch.
