For this months challenge, I picked Jay London from Last Comic Standing 2. For those of you that are watching the show, I'm sure you understand why. If you have not gotten the chance to see him on the show, you can view some video clips of his comedy act on the site I gave you above. This is the only photo I could find of him If anyone has another photo of him, feel free to post it here. Also, if you want to do any of the other comics, please post them in this thread too.

excellent choice in subject matter. I am famaliar with the show and the comic. hopefully someone can find more pictures of him, because its hard to see his nose in this one (which is a caricaturists dream). I already drew mine but won't be able to get to a scanner until Sunday. It's just pencil on sketchpaper but turned out better than I thought. I look forward to seeing everyones versions and comments as the month goes on.

toonmom, you must have read my mind! i worked on some caricatures of the LCS group just the other day for a publication, and i was thrilled to see jay was the challenge! i only found one pic of him...he doesn't exist on any websites, or IMDB! i am a huge fan of the show (thank goodness ant is gone!).

very nice stoontoons...i watch the show and recognized everyone...my favorite was Todd Glass (2nd picture, upper righthand corner). You really captured him. I think its the choice of you drawing him singing. You really nailed him. they are all fantastic, although i'm suprised that you didn't have for fun with Jay London's nose. I sure did (which hopefully you will all see soon). It's interesting to see how different artists approach the same subject matter differently.

Oh yeah...since we only have one picture of Jay here are a few things about him that might help.
1. He has a very large OVERbite 2. He always wears suspenders 3. One of his quotes/jokes is "I'm the third guy over from the left on the evolutionary chart" 4. He slouches like a caveman
Hope that might help some of the artists out there with little or no knowledge of Jay London the comedian that would like more "scrap" or "pics" to work from.

WOW tooned...awesome drawing..especially since you have no idea who he is and your working from one picture. The only thing I would have done differently is made him slouch over to the point where his neck disappears and bulk him up a bit. But considering the fact that you don't know who he is..you did great. You really captured his "essence" in the face..I think its the eyes...amazing!

gabriel, thanks for your comments about the nose i did for jay. i was having trouble with that, mostly due to the small pic i found. i wanted to capture the slouch, and the hair, but struggled with the right nose. your cartoon actually showed me what i need to change...hope you don't mind if i borrow your idea to make mine better! tooned...got that nose right on! the show is a north american thing...the humor probably wouldn't translate very well. very different style than what you see in australia or britain, or europe. (actually, very different from canadian, too, but i love watching the comedians fight with each other...i wonder if they'd consider putting hockey sticks in their hands?).
