Here I did this a little fast. But hey I really enjoyed it. One thing is that having the trace picture on and painting at the sametime, you get off on the colors some. But you can't have your cake and eat it too! I like the program, I wish this oil feature was like this on other programs. Here it is, but it's a quickie, under 25mins?

Great! I like seeing someone having fun with it! You can always draw a line suggesting where and what you have to paint, and then not show the tracing paper (quick key : CTRL + T).It is a little getting used to,but you work fast this way.

Hans i love your tutorial, and the examples.i´ve downloaded the software, but really i don´t like it, very basic, and the same thing can be made with non virtual tools. i like to play with photoshop and Deformer, wheni have dificultys sometimes with some faces, but i think that these techno tools give me a first step to made something next with old ways.the reason is that i don´t like the printed copys that i obtain with the computer, so i found that only originals copys, made with hands, like a work with watercolors, give me the best copy and also has the simplicity of true.why you work and base all in pixels ? the undo button is an excuse, the accident it´s very pleasure to expierence, specially with watercolors, trust me.digitals ways are games, reality is runing out the computer.

Everyone's entitled to have/share his opinion. I happen to like the digital way.I have tried it all before, and this is the only way I'm comfortable with .
The "undo-frase" is actually a joke, used too many times.
I have done pastels too,and really good too, never heard anything then...

Hans but what do you think about the printed copys of the computer, do you prefer more than an original paint or pastel drawing ? i don´t have see your pastels, but i like a lot your sketches, i know that you prefer the digital way, but i think that your talent could be better viewed in a traditional technique, thats all. anyway if you amuse with those programs is great, the goal of this is to be amused, have fun.

I'm tossing my opinion here:
The digital option is simply incredible. No you don't end up with pastel or pencil on the side of your hand, but the software solution is almost that close to reality. I use Painter and simply cannot see the reason to move back to conventional methods. Though, honestly, I probably tend to take much LONGER on a piece digitally versus penciling and inking a drawing the 'old way'.

I agree completely. The difference is that an original is financially more worth than it's reproduction. And the general mood amongst many people is "ooh, it's done digital ?" and then they turn away from it.Until they see it being done.

I'm still on the lookout for a quick digital way of making caricatures fast, like as for live gigs. Not that I have plans yet.Still took me a big 30' No where near good enough too,I'll dump my stuff here,if you don't mind. Enjoyed the zooming a lot.Listens even better to penpressure, great stuff this ArtRage program.Anyone else gave it a spin?

I was wondering. Is there anything a digital paintprogram cannot do.and if so, can you describe it? or show a photo? I think this could get interesting...
