I have an idea, but I'm not sure how to put it all together and keep it organized (I have a thing for organization, in case you didn't know). Also, I don't know how many of you would be interested in doing it but I think many of you would.
Anyway, here's the idea: It would be a challenge of sorts given to a member by a member. Sort of like a Christmas x-change of caricatures. Each member involved would pick another member. You would then choose a subject and medium for that member to draw. exp: say I pick stoontoons - I would then give her Martha Stewart to draw in Photoshop.
Each person that wants to be involved would have to give a list of mediums they could do. Not everyone has Photoshop, oil paints, colored pencils, etc. Also, I think the members should be picked at random, draw names maybe.
Let me know your thoughts on this and if you would like to be involved. This is for all levels of caricature artists, from those you have never tried one to those who make their living off them.

i think that's a fantastic idea! i like the suggestion that we should list what medium to work in....i've always been more comfortable working with coloured pencils and markers than i am with computer. how would you decide who to choose? is it just random, or would you, toonmom, be responsible for choosing people? i think it would be a great challenge for anybody, whether it's a beginner or a veteran. also, i like that it would get each artist getting feedback from someone else...always valuable to me. i haven't posted the caricatures yet that i've done of you and scottg. look for that later today....gotta run! (literally...on my treadmill!)

I was thinking I would pick them at random. I would like to list what mediums we COULD use, not would like to use. You are not comfortable with the computer, that's why you should try it sometime. We all tend to stick to the same medium, I would like to see people expand a bit. That's why I added the graphics contest section. The contests should only take a short amount of time to do, yet you could learn a lot from it.

good point about trying new things. sometimes, as an artist, i get stuck in the same old way of doing things. it would certainly be a challenge to use a different medium!

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a ton of art supplies that I bought and never used. It's just easier to stick with what I am used to.
So, who's in?
