Hey Frank, don't see you much around these parts. I am drawing on 8.5x11 paper. I want to fill the entire sheet but end up with it about 1/2 filled. When I start, I envision it almost right up to the edge of the paper but that never happens. I haven't been on the net much lately. But I still check the boards when I can. Since you keep drawing smaller then you mean to - maybe you could try larger paper? Sometimes you just have to force yourself to adjust your sizeing. When I draw alot on one size and then switch to a smaller or larger paper - I'm all out of whack; until I force myself to adjust. In theory, a small circle shouldn't be much faster than a large circle. Or a shost line to a longer line. So drawing larger shouldn't really slow you down. If you were drawing face about an inch tall and then trying to fill the paper it might make a difference. You're already drawing at a good size and just need to go slightly larger to fill the paper. Also, you're drawing in pencil. i don't know about anybody else but when I draw in pencil I have the same problem. Switch to a marker - it's BOLD. You can do iiiiittttt!

Thanks Frank! I'll try both larger paper and marker and see what happens. Actually, now that I think about it. When I did that live gig I was using marker and I drew really small. Not tiny, but much smaller than I wanted to. That's when I really found out I had a problem making my drawings too small. I think they look better when you fill the paper.

Hey, lauren -- You don't enjoy looking at my work? What's that all about? Anywho, here are my entries. Some of them I'm okay with; others not so much. Try and guess which are which. (Wow, that would be like, the most boring game in history.) First up is Cillian Murphy, Irish actor and villian in Batman Begins, as well as the star of cult hit 28 Days Later. Reference and drawing: The main problem, as I see it, is that his eyes are actually very far apart, but when I started with the right eye (on the paper's left side), I drew it too far over, so there was no room for such a big space. Oh, well. Next up, we have Dean Stockwell, better known as Al from Quantum Leap. If you don't watch Q.L., seriously, what are you waiting for? It's a great show. Ref and drawing. And you simply can't have Al without Scott Bakula's Sam, now can you? No. No, you can't. Okay, next up is, well, me. I recently got my headshots done (I'm an actor, by the way), so I had quite a few photos of me lying around. And last but not least, we have James Marsters, better known to Buffy and Angel fans as Spike. Okay, that should about do it for this week. Please do comment on these. I realize that that's something of a problem, because I tend to post these late in the week, and then the thread is locked, but oh, well. I want to say that I really do like this challenge. The whole Slacker thing. I feel like I'm improving, just simply because I'm doing things that I otherwise wouldn't be doing. Thank you, Toonmom. Thank you all. -- Eric

Thank you very much, Horate. I know you mentioned the color idea last week as well, but the thing is that in this case we only had five minutes for the entire drawings, and frankly, I'm not fast enough to be able to finish a drawing and color in five minutes or less. I will try to add some color this next week, though. Thanks again.

Lauren --
I was just kidding. I figured you just forgot. Plus, that tear-filled little yellow face is way over dramatic anyway.
I wish we could have seen your reference pics for your last three. I enjoy seeing your work as well. Looks like we're the only two left in this thing (I'm excluding you, T.M., because you're honorary).
Thanks for the compliments. I kinda agree. Three and five are my favorites as well. And, strangely, they are the only two of people that I have previously posted caricatures of. Odd. Maybe there's something to this whole "practice makes perfect" thing after all. Or at least, "practice makes better".
