hans, i agree with you about darkening the coat. i think you should darken the background as well. really bring some "mood" to this piece. as far as the likeness goes, though, it's right on, except he needs his trademark freckles. or whatever those spots are.
light beer- you're getting the likeness much bettr now. now, i would just fix up those cheeks a bit. they're a little lopsided. and then, if you're feeling brave, maybe you can take the next step and work on pushing some exaggeration.
larry- i have to agree that your likeness is getting further away. at the same time, though, it's amazing to me how much better your rendering is now than it was when i first started seeing your drawings just over a year ago! now, if you could just get both those elements together...
i do have a couple of sketches i've done for this workshop, but haven't had opportunity to get them scanned. hopefully tonight...

here are the next two I created. I feel the first is a better likeness looser. The second I got carried away in pencil rendering, maybe losing some likeness. I would like to do a colour version possibly digital that would enhance not take away from the drawing ;D I seem to enjoy cutting the tops of heads off +

Thanks Don.; I wish I could get the 2 things together, but trying get a good likeness is just killing me. I wanted to give it another go, and it appears that I had less likeness with each succesive edit/touchup. See for yourself: I think the first sketch had the best likeness, not that it was a good likeness, just better than the next 2.

Just wanted to drop a quick note to say that I really intended to join in on this one. I even have drawings and sketches and everything, but my scanner's been on the fritz, and I didn't think it was fair of me to critique others in the workshop without showing my participation. Sorry about that.
Oh, well. There's always next time.

nice one Hans. Daniel you could pull the mouth a "litle" more. Lighshifter; less hair, bigger nose and mouth. Larry: you need a new scanner man!
